THIS WORKSHOP is exactly what you are looking for if you want to work in labor and delivery and do not have experience in this field of nursing or if you just want to sharpen your labor support skills.

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?
|
Nurses, nursing students or certified nurses aids with a desire to enhance their labor support skills, obtain experience and/or employment in the maternity-nursing field.
During this intensive one day training the psychological and physiological processes associated with pregnancy, labor and birth will be discussed.

PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN:

Significance of Birth To A Woman:
An overview of how pregnancy changes a woman and her partner, the developmental tasks that take place and the significance of birth memories.
The Ideal Birth:
What makes a birth ideal? Explore your own biases and ability to work in diverse situations. Learn how to help couples when their birth-plan changes.
Support In Labor:
Learn specific emotional support strategies and how to enhance communication with the birthing couple.
Comfort Measures:
Hands on learning of many different physical comfort measures that can be used by the nurse or taught to the woman’s partner.
Challenging Childbirth:
A focus on why childbirth is sometimes challenging and how to make it easier.
